INJURY ON DUTY AWARDS  -  Latest information.

All members in receipt of an Injury on Duty Award will be pleased to know that Staffordshire Police have suspended any further reviews of Injury Awards, pending the outcome of The Home Office decision to completely review their HO Guidance (Circular 46/2004) which Staffordshire Police and several other forces have implemented. This HO review follows several High Court decisions which confirm that the HO Circular 46/2004 was ‘faulty in law’and pressure from NARPO and The Police Federation.  If you are coming up to your 64th Birthday, you may receive a letter from HQ giving you notice that you MAY be reviewed. This is a legal formality only.  Call your NARPO executive members if you have any concerns.

STAFFORDSHIRE POLICE WELFARE FUND.

Are you still a member?

Retired members of the Welfare Fund pay 65p per month, via a deduction from their pension.

A recent AGM Rule change now permits retired officers to re-join. ( Sorry but this does not apply to police widows. )  As a retired officer member you are eligible for the advice, help and support of our Force Welfare service / NARPO Welfare Officer.

So what do you get for your 65p per month and being a member?

Answers. Should you fall into bad health (and we all do sometime) you may need to use the facilities at Flint House, our Police Service Rehabilitation Centre in Oxfordshire, you will be given a contribution towards your travel costs. Your contributions to the Centre during your service ensure your eligibility to apply for convalescence.

You may wish to ask for financial assistance in purchasing a stair lift, wheelchair, mobility scooter or wet-room alterations.

If you are in your prime and in good health and full of vigour, you may wish to feel that you are helping to support those former colleagues who are less fortunate than yourself.

Your NARPO Executive is represented on the Welfare Fund Committee and can offer support for any application for financial assistance you may have.

The Welfare Fund Committee have agreed to give former members, who did not continue membership when they retired, a further opportunity to re-join.

Please seriously consider re-joining if you are not a members now. NARPO recommend you do.  To join the Staffordshire Police Welfare Fund, please complete the application form below and send it to NARPO Secretary Des Lockwood, as soon as possible.
