| On 14 April 2010, Burton Sub Branch held its meeting at Marston's Club. Chairman - Ralph Seville welcomed attendees, including many from other sub branches, the Branch Secretary and the recemtly appointed Webmaster. He reported on the very successful and pleasurable dedication of the memorial bench in the Police memorial Garden at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas. Over a hundred people had attended. He praised the work of Ken Vaughan, who had taken great trouble to ensure the garden was in excellent condition for the event. He went on to thank the Branch Secretary for arrangements for the Annual Reunion Lunch, which had taken place the previous weekend. Reports were given on the welfare and ill health of several members. Contact is being kept with them and gifts have been sent. Treasurer - Val Smith gave an update of the Sub-Branch finances. Ralph gave a summary of changes that are taking place in Staffordshire Police. A review of the Force structure, coupled with severe budgetary constraints have been published. Branch Secretary, Des Lockwood gave an update on county and national business. |
| On 14 January 2010, Burton Sub Branch held its annual general meeting at Marston's Club. The existing committee was re-elected en-block. Chairman - Ralph Seville Vice Chairman - John Ravenscroft Sectretary - Rosemary Poole Treasurer - Val Smith One member and his wife recently visited the Rehabilitaion Centre at Flint House. Whilst their stay was very enjoyable, inclement weather prevented physiotherapy staff from completing treatnment. So, a further visit is being arranged. Members congratulated fellow member, Cyril Barsted, on reaching his 90th birthday. Several shared the celebration with him at Littleover Lodge Hotel. Click Here for Photos |
