| On Monday 5th December our ordinary meeting was attended by 16 members including Branch Secretary Des Lockwood. The meeting started at 8.15pm with welcome to all present by Chairman Ken Stevens. Asked for comments regarding the Xmas social and result of having it early in the year and lunch time rather than evening: everyone present agreed that it was much better for travelling and weather. Apologises were received from nine people. Our Guest speaker Des, gave us updates on the change from RPI to CPI being judged legal, but we have the chance to appeal. He also spoke of other items of interest. Ken thanked Des for information given. Due to Peter Toghill (welfare Officer) being unable to attend, his report on welfare matters was presented by the Secretary. In any other business, discussion of the the Xmas social charge (£5.00 per person) being insufficient to keep our heads above water and this would be brought up at the AGM in May. The meeting closed at 9pm and buffet opened. |
| On Monday 14 November 2011, West Bromwich and Wednesbury Sub Branch held its Christmas Party. The party was well attended by 34 people, consisting of members and partners and started at 12pm to 3pm There was a splendid Buffet laid on by Chairmans daughter Rachel and entertainment was, again, a comedian named Ollie Spencer and everyone enjoyed his humour. Branch Secretary Des and his wife, Pat attended. It would seem from the attendance that we were right to change from evening to lunch time and an earlier date. Sorry no photos. |

| On Monday 9 May 2011, West Bromwich and Wednesbury Sub Branch held its annual general meeting at the Royal Naval Association Club. The Chairman (Ken Stevens), welcomed guests Des Lockwood, Reay Pearman and Joe Molloy. During the Course of the meeting, Des Lockwood took the chair whilst the elections took place. There being no other nominations, existing officers were re-elected. Chairman,Ken Stevens; Secretary, Terry Barton; Welfare Officer, Peter Toghill. Ken Stevens resumed as chair and nominated Tony Henderson to be vice Secretary, this was seconded and unanimously supported. The Balance sheet was presented and showed the sub-branch to be well funded. Peter toghill gave a summary of current member welfare issues. Alan asked that his thanks be recorded for the donation made from the Force Benevolent Fund, which had paid towards a stair lift at his home, and which he was finding great assistance and making his life much easier. Des Lockwood gave a summary of current issues regarding the threat to injury and medical pensions, matters affecting current officers and the impact this will have to NARPO membership. Joe Molloy gave a brief summary of the facilities available on the Branch website. Under other business, the Chairman was mandated to explore alternative arrangements to the annual Christmas function, particularly to find options for a lunch time in the latter half of November, to make attendance easier with daylight and likely better weather. |
| On Monday 6 December 2010, West Bromwich and Wednesbury Sub Branch held its annual Christmas social meeting at the Royal Naval Association Club. The Chairman (Ken Stevens), welcomed guests who braved the icy conditions and introduced the entertainer Phil Chase. Phil provided excellent entertainment, being an accomplished organist and singer along with jokes and stories.
